Technical Support Engineer
£30,000 - £35,000 basic + benefits
Exciting new opportunity to join this well established Lighting Company working within the busy and dynamic technical office.
Working closely with the technical manager you will be involved in taking a brief and turn it into a proposal of a design solution for lighting and luminaires. You will need to field technical questions, understand the lighting systems and products and general design principles in the industry. Design briefs may take the form of a creative design intent, or simply a problem solving project. Your knowledge of manufacturing techniques and standard details should be employed as close as possible to the start of the project. You will also be involved in producing estimates, divided into specific material and labour requirements along with a written specification from a variety of sources including visuals, CAD drawings, mock ups and prototypes; entering and maintaining ‘specifications’ onto the CRM system; documenting and seeking approval for any Value Engineering Estimating; specifying (Bills of Materials) and Labour Routings by work centre.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced technical support engineer in lighting. You should have competency/ experience in BIM, AutoCAD, Inventor. You should have excellent verbal, written, presentation and communication skills with good attention to detail.
You should have the ability to discuss, articulately all elements of the design process with colleagues from different parts of the business, eg Factory, Sales and able to work within a small team and with staff at all levels and with partner organisations, suppliers and clients.
This role requires someone who can use their initiative to develop new and beneficial working methods, be receptive to fast moving, challenging and rapidly changing and expanding operations and able to work under pressure in a calm and mature manner.
